Telling Sydney hadn't ever really been something she wanted to do. It wasn't that she was ashamed of her life, or thought she had reason to explain it away either. Still sitting in a briefing room in DC she watched as Sydney's features fell a bit.

"Oh."

It could've been worse, Rachel thought. The actual entire gamete of reactions she'd worked up in her head had countless different endings. The somewhat blank stare of disbelief was barely on the list. Exhaling Rachel tried to estimate what was going to come up next, if there would be an officer brought into the room to escort her into holding. In a way it seemed she could've been held for a series of charges, but instead Sydney just looked at her and nodded her head.

"Thank you for telling me Rachel, but you've been away from the agency for a while now. Any pertinent data you could've passed onto him wouldn't even be of value at this point."

Rachel could hardly believe what she was hearing as her brow furrowed a bit, "You actually suspect I would've told him anything from work? My personal life has always been separate from my professional life Sydney."

Returning the steady gaze from Rachel, Sydney nodded, "I didn't mean to imply-"

"You did though," Rachel almost snapped, cutting the sentence off before there was an excuse attached to it.

"It's protocol, I have to evaluate the threat to the agency, you know that Rach."

Shutting her eyes she nodded, agreeing that she understood why it had to be done, but disagreeing with the implications that it was putting on her. "Just because I love him, doesn't mean I am not still loyal to my country. I could have not informed you at all, but I wanted to ensure that if you did hear it, that it was from me. I figured after all we had been through, you deserved the truth."

Catching the slight laugh behind the smirk on Sydney's features Rachel tilted her head, "I'm just sorry I didn't trust you with it sooner."

Standing up Rachel moved to the door, stopping before she moved to open it, "Am I free to go?"

Caught off guard Sydney glanced up to her, "Yes of course, you do know that this information is going to be part of your file now. If anything ever happens, if he's connected to anything, we'll have to bring you in as well."

Nodding Rachel smiled, "It's a risk I'll have to take."

Exhausted was one way of looking at it, but Rachel felt as if she'd been run through a press of some sort. The overnight bag she had packed to head in for her briefing with Sydney, just in case she had been detained felt a lot heavier on her shoulder than it did when she packed it. All those other day trips, weekends away to desolate places, never before had her bag felt so heavy. Once the door shut behind her she let it slip off her shoulder quickly. A shift of her stance and the bag slumped onto the floor unceremoniously. Running her hands through her hair she pushed the bag with her foot until it was pressed to the wall a bit. Shoved out of the way, and something she would tend to in the morning, or later in the afternoon after she'd slept in far too late.

It was dark in the house as she moved down the hallway to the kitchen. Opening the door her hair hung in front of her shoulder, the blue glow from the fridge illuminating her features as she tried to figure out if she wanted to eat something, or just have a glass of wine. Leaning over she just stared into the abyss of her fridge until the motor kicked on. Blinking she grabbed the bottle of wine, she shut the door with her hip and set the bottle onto the counter. Reaching for a glass from the cabinet she heard a shuffle from the back bedroom.

"Julian?" She didn't really need a reply, in fact she was fairly certain that she wouldn't even be able to form much more than a few words back to him until she had something substantial in her. Not that wine was substantial. Pouring the wine she emptied the bottle into her glass, pouting slightly at the less than half-full of it. Taking a sip of it she moved through the front room and by the time she reached the bedroom she could set the empty glass on the dresser. Tugging her shirt off over her head she let it drop to the floor behind her. The heel of her hand pressed to the edge of the dresser as she leaned down to tug her shoes off before unfastening the closure of her jeans and shimmying out of them.

Padding toward the bed she slipped into the covers pressing an open palm across his chest, tugging him back against her lightly as she curled up alongside him. Her mouth pressed to the nape of his neck, a smirk curving against his skin. A light hint of the wine she had just finished in her exhale as he turned around to face her. His mouth pressed to hers, taking away her breath in the way that really only he knew how to. As his body turned to press into hers she knew she didn't even need to ask. The answer would always be 'Absolutely.'
